The National Examinations Council has officially unveiled the long-awaited results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination External. The results were declared on Friday, 14th February 2025, during a press briefing held at the NECO Headquarters in Minna, Niger State. The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, addressed the media and stakeholders, providing detailed insights into the conduct of the examination and the performance of candidates.

Highlights of the 2024 NECO SSCE External Results

The 2024 NECO SSCE External examination was conducted from Thursday, 14th November to Saturday, 14th December 2024, with the marking exercise taking place from Wednesday, 8th January to Friday, 24th January 2025. The results were officially released on Friday, 14th February 2025, during a press briefing held at the NECO Headquarters in Minna, Niger State. The results are being released 62 days after the last paper, showcasing NECO’s commitment to timely and efficient service delivery.

Here are the key highlights from the results:

1. Total Number of Candidates Registered: 86,067 candidates registered for the examination, comprising 44,988 (52.27%) males and 41,079 (47.72%) females.
2. Total Number of Candidates Who Sat for the Examination: 84,799 candidates sat for the examination, with 44,277 (52.21%) males and 40,522 (47.78%) females.
3. Performance in English Language: 83,220 candidates sat for English Language, out of which 62,929 (75.62%) obtained Credit and above.
4. Performance in Mathematics: 83,024 candidates sat for Mathematics, out of which 77,988 (93.93%) obtained Credit and above.
5. Overall Performance: 57,114 (67.35%) candidates achieved five (5) Credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
6. Performance in Five Credits and Above: 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39%, obtained five (5) credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
7. Incidents of Malpractice: A total of 6,160 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice, a decrease of 27.7% compared to 8,518 in 2023.
8. Seven supervisors (two each from Oyo and Ogun, and one each from Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi States) were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, lateness, and aiding and abetting malpractice during the examination.
9. Fourteen examination centers (ten in Ogun and four in Oyo States) were blacklisted for their involvement in whole-center malpractice across nine (09) subjects.
